Route4 countries (Italy, Morocco, Mauritania, Senegal), while the largest part of the African route crosses the Sahara Desert! However, the adventure vehicle chosen was a disruptive proposition for such a special journey. No, it wasn't a big on-off bike, but a black Scrambler Daytona Rockstar 500. Because even naked bikes travel - and quite far.
Greece – Italy with disembarkation in Ancona. First stop Republic of San Marino which dominates the top of the Titano mountain range and the port city of Genova, the birthplace of Christopher Columbus. From Morocco to Mauritania2,200 km from Morocco to the border of Mauritania. Following the coastline of the Atlantic Ocean, while the first planned stop on Moroccan soil was finally made in the capital Rabat.
For the next four days, the elements that characterized the journey were the loneliness of the road, the minimal settlements along the way and the desertification of the landscape, while the image of the blue ocean that starred on the right of the road axis was idyllic.

Senegal RiverFrom the Moorish capital Nouakchott to Senegal via Diama (236 km south of the capital Nouakchott)/ A difficult 60 km dirt road route that crossed the borders of the Diawling National Park. After an hour and a half of muddy suffering, Konstantinos saw the banks of the Senegal River. But with one loss: the motorcycle's license plate was cut off! Passing through the villages on the route was a nightmare (terrible traffic and unpredictable actions of passing drivers), while pedestrians and animals that occasionally jumped onto the road required a lot of attention. Situations for strong nerves and quick reflexes!

From Senegal back to MauritaniaThe long return journey started - this time - from Dakar and ended in distant Athens... The most difficult part was the first 1100 km, to the border of Morocco.
The journey through Senegal was uneventful. In contrast to Mauritania where at the border the customs officers ask for money (€150) to complete the bureaucratic entry procedures.
